Snapchat for Business

Snapchat is a picture and video based app that has been named the fastest ever growing and most engaged with social network. “It’s 100% mobile and is a non-evergreen network as Snaps are only available for a limited amount of time”. Each Snap that you send can last for up to 10 seconds and you can only view stories from the last 24 hours. There are multiple reasons why Snapchat is a good marketing platform for business – here are a few of them!

 

To tell a story…

Using Snapchat quite literally makes your audience feel part of the story. It’s an opportunity for you to share behind the scenes content and give more of an authentic view of what goes on within your business. Furthermore, Snapchat allows for real-time social media marketing. You can showcase live events and let your audience see things as they happen.

This type of social media marketing allows you to be very creative. ‘Stories’ is a feature whereby users can post regular updates that can be seen by anyone and disappear after 24 hours of being uploaded. It’s essentially video narrative that portrays a clear story you can communicate to others.

However, you can’t just upload anything to Snapchat. First and foremost, it needs to be consistent so that people can actually follow the story. Furthermore, you need to be able to evoke interest from people so that they keep returning to see your updates and tell others about it. To do this, your Snapchat posts should be well thought about and planned. The more engaging your story is, the more likely people are to spread the word, ultimately creating more interest around your business.

Your target audience could potentially be frequent Snapchat users. This makes Snapchat a great platform to impress your audience and increase awareness for your brand.

If your business is new to Snapchat, using your existing social media channels is a great way to drive people towards it. This means that the people who have already taken an interest in your business will be more inclined to look at what you’re doing on Snapchat.

Snapchat is all about fun. In order to be successful on Snapchat, your business needs a plan of action and to really think about content before putting it live. Using humour and creativity is the best way to do this.

So, unless you’re willing to spend a bomb, you might want to steer clear of Snapchat ads!

Another thing Snapchat is good for is promoting events. For example, you could offer deals on your business Snapchat. While Stories are only available for a limited amount of time (24 hours), it will drive people to your Snapchat because they don’t want to miss out.

Another way to promote your business on Snapchat is through custom Geofilters. Snapchat allows people to submit their own filter for a fee. This will appear in your chosen location and for your chosen amount of time. This could be good if you are hosting an event or have external people visiting, or even if some of your team are attending an event.
