RTD Apprentices: Meet Jess

At Results Through Digital, we are keen to provide opportunities for young people, and so over the years we’ve recruited several Apprentices to give them a starting point in their career. We want to offer experience in a role suited to them, and in the past we’ve had Apprentices work in various departments of the business.

There are currently two Apprentices working at RTD and both of them are at different stages in their journey. Today we spoke to Jess, our Social Media & Digital Marketing Apprentice to find out about her experience over the past year…

How long have you been at RTD?

I started my Apprenticeship at RTD just under one year ago, so I’m coming to the end of my course in around four weeks.

Why did you choose this Apprenticeship?

My Apprenticeship is through a provider called The Juice Academy and when I heard about the course they were offering, I thought it sounded quite different to a lot of Apprenticeships out there, and something I’d be interested in.

I wanted to go down this route as university didn’t really appeal to me and I wanted to do something where I’d be learning on the job and gaining work experience as well as a qualification.

What sort of things do you do in your role?

My role has changed quite a lot during the time I’ve been here as I’ve gradually been given more responsibilities. Some of my main tasks include; email marketing, content writing, keeping our blog and social media updated, entering awards, and photography.

What have you learnt during your Apprenticeship so far?

One thing I’ve developed an understanding of the most during my Apprenticeship, is email marketing. I’ve learnt how to use two email marketing platforms, and over time understood what kind of tone and approach to take with the emails I send. Within this, I’ve also developed skills around handling the data we use, and monitoring the analytics following each campaign that I send.

What have been the highlights of your Apprenticeship?

The best part of my Apprenticeship has been the work experience I’ve gained. I feel that this puts me at an advantage for the future, and has helped me to understand certain things better because I’ve actually been able to put it into practice. I’ve also enjoyed the range of work I’ve been given, and the confidence I’ve gained in my work over the time I’ve been here.

What have you achieved during your time here?

During my time at RTD I have developed lots of new skills and am still learning new things on a daily basis. As well as this, I will also receive a qualification for the work I’ve completed during my course.

What are your plans for the future?

Following the end of my Apprenticeship, I want to continue developing my skills and building on the knowledge I already have. My long term goal is to apply what I’ve learnt to an area or industry of which I have a big interest, as I feel this would help me to make the best use of the skills I’ve gained and would also allow me to interlink other skills and interests.
